Charity & social mission

At the heart of ANGLO fest is our charity fair — a vibrant marketplace where kids sell pre-loved toys and books to other children. By buying or selling, your child practises real-life English, learns the value of sharing, and helps those who need it most.

In our inaugural year, we have chosen to support Preodelenie. This is a charity Hugh Mc Enaney has known for well over 15 years, with a simple yet challenging mission — to assist children and adults to improve their mobility with hippotherapy. Horses help with balance and overall strength.

We invited bilingual experts, popular bloggers, and influential educators passionate about natural English learning. They shared insights, answered questions, and showed that raising a bilingual child is not only possible — it’s wonderful.

Olga Ikonnikova

Hi, I am Olga Ikonnikova, creator of the Angloparents guide and a proud “Anglomama”. I am always interested in different activities and events to give my children more practical speaking and listening practice through activity and play in real life situations with really real English speakers.

Like myself, there are many Russian speakers of English in and near Moscow and, thankfully, quite a lot of native speakers too. We have encountered these at different language clubs and we know many teach at international and some state schools here too.

We have also seen many assisting at online and offline clubs and just cannot register for every event. This is the main reason I thought up Anglofest.

We aim to get people offline and connected together to share, learn and meet the children. As well as a huge range of children’s activities, we have gathered a number of talented educators as speakers to share their experiences and, in turn, help our audience.

As they say, “it takes two to tango”. When I published my thoughts on organizing the first ever Anglofest in Moscow, maybe even in Russia, many jumped on board and got excited and joined our Telegram channel. A long-term Irish expat in Moscow called me and said he wanted to help out and the rest is history.

Hi, everyone. I remember the t-shirt slogan well, “Nokia — connecting people” and, closer to home, this well known mobile brand was even replaced with a well known local spirit. I do love to connect people and, since leaving school way back in the 80s, always have.

Having been a teacher, coach, editor, translator, event planner and regular media contributor in Russia for almost 20 years, I love the Anglofest initiative and was delighted when Olga agreed to partner with me to make these events a reality.

As a former Irish club member and charity co-ordinator, I had had some experience in event management in Russia and also with planning charity balls in Ireland for a range of causes including Motor Neurone Disease, way back in 1997. I proudly plan an annual Irishfest with cultural performances here in Moscow and immediately saw the synergies in Anglofest.
